Validation for NaNoWriMo has started. One of my friends has already finished, at a little above 50,000 words.
And with a little luck, you’re finishing your novel in a few days.
At least, that’s my wish for you.
So if you are doing NaNo and have continued this far, go for a little final push. And yes, write a little bit even today, on Thanksgiving.
Really?
Yes. Because if you can manage to take five or ten minutes today, or even half an hour on this day, you are well on your way to being a better writer than most. Because writing is a priority in your life.
Writing every day, even if it’s just a little, will get you far. It’s much more productive than waiting for word spurts to come to you. A daily writing habit is the one thing that will turn you into a productive writer.
And productivity is key in this new world of publishing.
Publishing? You mean, this NaNovel can get published?
Of course, it can. Probably not the way it is right now, though. It will need cleaning and editing and polishing, but then, you could self-publish it.
It is very doable. Yes, it takes work and determination, but it is doable.
And I really want to encourage you to think that way. I know quite a few people who have published their NaNovels. And they are doing well.
So here’s some tapping to help install the belief that you can finish your novel, edit it and self-publish it.
Even though I’m just scraping through NaNoWriMo, writing like mad, and really doubting myself, I’m okay the way I am, and I’m open to the possibility that I might eventually publish this thing.
Even though it feels wrong to rush through a novel like that and even contemplating publishing it, I’m a good writer, and I choose to know I can polish this enough to make it worth publishing.
Even though NaNo doesn’t feel like writing a novel should be – slow and ponderous – I am okay the way I am, and I now choose to celebrate writing a novel anyway.
Your Turn:
How does it feel when you contemplate the publication of your NaNovel?
What do you think it needs to be really good?
What happened while you were tapping?
And finally – what great story are you writing right now?
Would love to hear from you!
